Making of the Paper Prototype

Hello dear reader!

Here we are going to explain the process of building the paper prototype for our Drunken Ed game.

We met early monday morning because we sure knew that we would take long to build the prototype. Although things went pretty straight forward, we indeed needed all day until the prototype was completed:

There is one big sheet which lays in a box. On the sheet there are the menu items which are attached by Sellotape so we were able to remove them quickly within the user test.

In front of the sheet some components of the Ed figure can be moved by our team. The degrees of Freedom are: arm up/down, leg up/down and lean forward/backward. Ed is controlled by almost invisible strings.

When the user leans forward, our team moves the big sheet to the left so that there is the illusion of Ed walking in the right direction.
